The Ghana Water Company limited says it is confident of finding a lasting solution to the country’s problems with water supply.
Managers of the country’s urban water; Aqua Vitens Rand officially handed over operations to the GWCL Monday.
It follows the expiration today of a five-year contract with government.
Government refused to renew the contract because it says the company performed poorly.
Managing Director Kwaku Botwe believes the new wholly Ghanaian team will do a better job.
He told Joy FM’s Hannah Odame the handing over is just a relay.
He asked those taking over the baton to learn from the failures while building on the achievements of AVRL.
He was confident the new management which has a one year mandate will review the water situation in the country and recommend lasting solutions.
On his part, Managing Director of AVRL Martin Nisse (Nicey) said he was proud of the achievements made and wished the contract had been renewed.
