Christian Poulsen’s agent has insisted Liverpool have yet to make it clear they want to sell the Danish midfielder.

The 31-year-old Denmark international has had a tough time with injury and poor form since joining from Juventus for £5 million in January.

Poulsen has made just nine starts in the Premier League, but his agent Jorn Bonnesen does not yet think an Anfield exit for his client is inevitable.

Bonnesen told Danish newspaper B.T.: “It could be that Christian is in the pool of players who are up for sale, but we have not heard anything about that.

“There has been no contact with Liverpool, and we stick to the contract.

“We will not consider anything before we have heard from Liverpool that they don’t want to keep Christian.

“We will remain loyal to Liverpool.”

Poulsen was signed by Roy Hodgson before he was replaced by Kenny Dalglish in January and the midfielder could be replaced by Sunderland’s Jordan Henderson if, as expected, a deal goes through.
