John Boye is back for Rennes
Ghana defender John Boye played his first match since a six-week lay-off on Wednesday in the Uefa Europa League.
The 24-year-old was handed a starting role in the 0-0 draw with Udinese at the Route de la Lorient.
Boye nearly gifted Udinese a goal when he failed to deal with compatriot Kwadwo Asamoah’s searching pass and the ball fell to Antonio Floro Flores but his side-footed effort came back off the far upright.
The centre-back was replaced just after interval by Georges Mandjeck.
Boye suffered a muscle tear in during Rennes’ 1-1 draw with Saint Etienne in September.
