Norbert Dorgeloh and Carin Pretorious were crowned squash champions at the Namibia Squash Association (NSA) Invitational championships of 2011 at Wanderers this weekend.
The annual tournament, sponsored by Trustco, saw some scintillating squash. The finals, between up-and-coming Andrew Forrest and Dorgeloh, and between Pretorius and Isabell Schnoor were fitting finales of a weekend of sporting excellence. Respectively the matches finished with Dorgeloh beating Forrest 3-1 and Pretorius beating Schnoor 3-2.
In the Women’s section, Nancy Fernandes finished third after defeating the brave Adri Lambert 3-1. In the men’s draw Michau Basson clinched third place from Chris Viljoen.
The top three players in the men’s event will join Marco Becker in the Namibian team which will participate in the Men’s World Team Championship, hosted in Paderborn, August 2011.
Social squash for all levels continues at Wanderers every Saturday morning from 10h45 am.
