Luanda — The programme of cooperation with the Mozambican Parliament once restricted to the administrative area has now evolved from the strategic plan into that of consolidation of inter-personal and institutional relations.
This was said Saturday in Luanda by the National Assembly (Angolan Parliament) speaker, António Paulo Kassoma.
He was speaking at the opening of official talks between Angolan and Mozambican parliamentary delegations, the latter headed by its speaker, Verónica Nataniel Macamo Dlhovo, who started a five-day official visit to Angola for reinforcement of cooperation.
The Angolan Parliament speaker said this is the result of the interaction in the plan of the political realism in the region, where matters like the transformation of the SADC Parliamentary Forum into a Parliament, is at the centre of the attention of the politicians and will be a topic for the 29th plenary session set for next week in Lubango, southern Huila province.
In this particular, he said, the concert of positions between the two parliaments is ideal and requires a deep vision of the matter, a debate, approximation of views and conditions for a progress at pace with regional integration.
According to him, SADC is in a process of economic and political integration and the parliaments, in their capacity as legitimate representatives of their peoples, are entitled to be closer and closer in order to outline strategies and make decisions that take into account the interests of the community.
He admitted that there is still a long way in the process of regional integration, but encouraged the governments in believing in the construction of a community based on share of common values, solidarity and peace.
Ahead of the talks, the Mozambican Parliament speaker, accompanied by a 15-member delegation, laid a wreath by the statue of the founder of the Angolan nation, António Agostinho Neto, at Luanda’s “Independencia” Square.
