Swansea defender Neil Taylor is the subject of an undisclosed bid from Newcastle United
The Wales left-back recently became a Premier League player after the Welsh side recorded a 4-2 play-off final win over Reading at Wembley.
Taylor impressed in the Championship over the past season, playing 30 games for the Swans as they clinched promotion.
The Welshman was unavailable for the play-off final having been sent off in the semi-final against Nottingham Forest, and could now have played his last game for the club.
“We have received a proposal from Newcastle regarding Neil, but the proposal has not been accepted or rejected at this stage,” Swansea chairman Huw Jenkins told his club’s official website.
“We have received a number of enquiries from different clubs for Neil’s services and, like all bids we receive for any of our players, we will be talking it over with him when he returns from a break next week.
“Neil is a player we brought to the club this season from the Conference with Wrexham with a view to him progressing and developing with us over a number of years.
“The last thing on our mind was to sell anyone over the summer.”
The 22-year-old’s impressive displays in defence have seen him make three senior appearances for Wales, the first coming in a friendly against Croatia in May 2010.
Taylor was released from Manchester City youth system at the age of 15. He then moved on to Wrexham, making over 80 appearances for the Robins before being snapped up by Swansea last season.
Newcastle’s pursuit of Taylor is likely to alert top clubs over the likelihood of the club’s current left-back Jose Enrique being allowed to move away from St James’ Park this summer, as has been speculated for some time.
