    Freetown — Paramount Chief of Kaffu Bullom chiefdom in the Port Loko district has said that his community has a vast area land which is fertile for modern agricultural purposes.

    PC Sherba Gberren made this statement during the opening ceremony of a five-day training for board members and other stakeholders of the Agricultural Business Centre (ABC) in the chiefdom. He said his people were willing to take the lead in President Koroma’s food self-sufficiency drive, noting that there was need for honesty, transparency and a good flow of communication.

    Member of Parliament for Kaffu Bullom chiefdom, Hon. Mohamed Khalil thanked the organisers of the training and also commended PC Gberren for his support to his people.

    He appealed to the board members and other participants to treat the training very seriously.

    Giving an overview of the training, Caritas director for Makeni, Joseph Ahmed Turay said his organisation has embarked on capacity building for members of the Agricultural Business Centres in all five districts in the northern region.

    “I am optimistic that 50 percent of the board members and managers of the various centres will be properly trained within a period of four months on how to identify and resolve problems in a transparent manner,” he said.

    The five-day training was designed to train members of the ABC on leadership role within the urban and rural development activities.

    The training was declared open by the director of Caritas, Makeni.
