Bandari Cancel Friendly Against Tanzania’s Simba

Trouble-ridden Bandari have cancelled a high profile friendly match against Tanzania Simba Sports Club earlier scheduled for this weekend.

Bandari, who had been invited to play with Dar-es-salaam had to cancel their journey minutes before taking departure. Bandari Coach Rishadi Shedu said they were prepared to travel by road to Tanga, a few kilometres away from the Kenya-Tanzania boarder when he was informed of the development.

Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) sports officer Lennox Safari said Simba Sports had written to Bandari management informing them of the cancellation. The hosts said some of their players will be serving the national team hence the match can’t go on. “Bandari will not have the friendly with Simba Sports on Sunday (tomorrow) as earlier planned following their request to cancel the match due to involvement of their players in their national side,” said Safari.

“The news that they have cancelled the match is a big surprise given the fact that our players were psyched for the face off,” said Shedu. Bandari made plans for the friendly after their match against Mathare United was rescheduled, owing to the fact that a number their players are in national team Harambee Stars. Bandari will next weekend face Posta Rangers before booking a date with home boys Congo United and finish with Mathare United in the first leg of the league series.
