Swansea have had a club record £3.5 million bid for Watford striker Danny Graham accepted by the Hertfordshire club.

The former Middlesbrough man was the Championship’s top scorer last season, with a total of 24 league goals, and interest in the striker has been high, with the Hornets having rejected a £2.5m offer from QPR in May.

The Vicarage Road side have confirmed via their official website that they are prepared to part with their striker after just two seasons, giving Graham permission to speak to Swansea.

Graham has already had a taste of the Premier League with his first club Middlesbrough, grabbing his first goal against Charlton at the Riverside, and he had stated that he would only leave Watford for a Premier League club.

“I’m contracted to Watford, I love it here, but I’m not going to lie or kid anyone, I want to play at the top level,” Graham said.

“I want to be a Premiership player, I’m not going to hide the fact, but we’ll see what happens.”

The highest fee Swansea have ever paid for a player is £1m for Scott Sinclair from Chelsea 2010.

Sinclair went on to play a pivotal part in the club’s promotion charge, capping a fine season with a hat-trick in the play-off final victory over Reading.
