Freetown — Ports Authority has narrowed the gap on leaders Kamboi Eagles at the top of the Africell-sponsored Sierra Leone Premier League after a comfortable 3-1 victory over Nepean Stars in Bo.

The win has taken Ports Authority to second place in the log with 17 points, three behind leaders Kamboi Eagles and with a game in hand.

An opening strike from Donald Wellington gave Ports Authority the lead in the first half but Alhassan Bangura had to level the score-line for the home side. The visitors took the lead once again through Abu Bakarr Mansaray minutes to the break before Wellington sealed the win for the Water Front Boys, scoring his fifth goal of the season to join Kamboi Eagles’ Ibrahim K. Fofanah and Foday Samura of East End Lions at the top of the scoring chart.

Moreover, it was Nepean Stars second successive defeat which leaves them in the relegation zone with four points from 9 matches.

While Ports Authority enjoyed victory in Bo, FC Kallon were forced to a 2-2 draw by Premier League newcomers Kissy All Stars. Striker Lansana Kamara aka Kalusha scored twice for FC Kallon but a resilient Kissy All Stars side came from the back twice to snatch a point from the Kallon Boys.

Kalusha opened the scoring in the fourth minute but Kissy All Stars’ influential defender Larry Katta grabbed an equalizer four minutes before half time. Kalusha scored his fourth goal of the season to put his side ahead just a minute after the interval but his goal was again cancelled by Kissy All Stars’ skipper, Isaac Davies just a minute to the full time whistle.

FC Kallon still remains in fourth place on goals different with 14 points from 8 matches, while Kissy All Stars also remain in 11th position with seven points from eight matches.
