Khartoum — The Department of Highways at the Traffic General Administration Sunday staged 72 new traffic police patrol vehicles to be used at the national highways to support of the electronic speed- control system (Radar), which began last week.

This was announced by the Acting Director of the Department of Highways, Brig. (police) Mohamed Abdalla Al-Naeem, explaining that the traffic patrols project aims at decreasing traffic accidents in highways which were already dropped by 65% after initiating Radar system last week, as well as monitoring drivers’ commitment to allowed speed at the high waysBrig.

Al-Naeem revealed that the Traffic Department has adopted the geographical information system in monitoring vehicles using highways, saying that in case of speed violation the Drivers will be notified via SMS and the patrols along the highways will stop them and will deal with them according to the Traffic Law.
