Real Madrid still wish to sign Emmanuel Adebayor following his loan spell at the club, but for a fraction of Manchester City‘s original asking price.

According to The Mirror, Jose Mourinho is only willing to part with £7 million for the striker whereas his parent club are requesting double that to make the transfer permanent.

Even if Madrid were to stump up the full asking price for Adebayor it would still represent a significant loss on the £21 million they paid Arsenal for the Togolese forward.

The club are keen to get his rumoured £220,000-a-week wages off the payroll and so could potentially move on the price.

Adebayor has scored eight goals in his spell at Real Madrid, including a brace against Tottenham in a Champions League win and a final-day hat-trick against Almeria.

He recently stated his desire to stay at the club following the success of his loan, telling Spanish newspaper AS: “I love Madrid, I want to continue. My friends tell me that I seem happier, even when I’m on the bench.”
