Ondjiva — At least 2,349 primary and secondary school students were left without lessons in the current school term, due to the floods caused by the heavy rains hitting the southern Cunene Province.
This number accounts for students attending schools located in the districts of Kwanhama, Curoca, Namacunde and Cuvelai.
According to the report on the consequences of the floods in Cunene, from February to May this year, the commission recorded the stoppage of 132 schools, due to inundations on roads, which hindered the circulation of vehicles.
The provincial board of education has been re-planning the schooling term.
Meanwhile, the report reveals that about 8,465 families have been affected by the floods, which left 174 of those families homeless.
