BY OLA AJAYI IBADAN-FOUR days after the inauguration of the new Governor of Oyo State, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, there appears to be anxiety among the party members over those that would form the new government of the Action Congress of Nigeria in the state. The anxiety was informed by the alleged strained relationship between him and some members of the party who worked relentlessly for the party’s victory at the April elections. Vanguard gathered that members of the party are already seeing the handwriting on the wall that the governor would not recognize them in the distribution of political offices

The search for socio-economic development in Ghana and other developing countries does not end with the striking of oil, gold, diamond and other minerals, according to the Vice-Chancellor of Valley View University.

Prof. Dr. Daniel Bour however says sustainable economic growth of emerging economies demands the establishment of structures and infrastructure for the training of entrepreneurs.

He was speaking at a 4-day International Entrepreneurship Conference being held in Kumasi under the theme “Unlocking your Entrepreneurial Potentials for Wealth Creation”.

Prof. Buor says the panacea to the country’s unemployment and the drive for economic advancement is entrepreneurship.

He observed that “Nigeria has over 35 billion tonnes of oil hidden, Gabon and others but look at what is happening – crisis upon crises. Produce entrepreneurs and underdevelopment will be a thing of the past.

“The State must provide resources to put in place institutions, structures and infrastructure adequate enough to ensure sustainable training of entrepreneurs. And when you talk of entrepreneurship, you don’t talk of theories – theory plus practice will lead to development”.

The ongoing conference is organized by the African Collegiate Entrepreneurship (ACE) in collaboration with the Torch Bearers Diaspora USA.

Director of the organization, Dr. Isaac Fordjour, said the programme is geared towards empowering the youth to be independent of government.

“We go to the grassroots, the young people who need business, they are the ones who should develop the businesses. We’re not expecting the government to create businesses for us; they’ve had the opportunity to do that all these years, they haven’t done it and we want the young people not to depend on anybody else, and when they become successful businessmen, then the government will come to them”, he told Luv Fm.
