Tom Cleverley rules out return to Wigan: I will be back at Manchester United next season

Manchester United midfielder Tom Cleverley has ruled out the possibility of returning to Wigan after spending the season on loan at the DW Stadium

Although never playing in a competitive match for United, Cleverley is held in high esteem by manager Sir Alex Ferguson, as well as his coaching staff at Old Trafford.

Over the last three years he has enjoyed two loan-spells with Watford, one before that with Leicester City and most recently with Wigan, and believes it now time for the next step up as he looks to break into the Manchester United first-team.

“I’ll be back at United next year,” he said according to the Daily Star.

“Of course, Wigan will be the first result I’ll look for and the club will always be close to my heart.

“We achieved what we wanted as a team and that means everything to me. Staying up was the best moment of my career.

“Now I go back looking to build on what I’ve done and hopefully make my mark at Old Trafford.’
