The Kilimanjaro Taifa Cup famous as ‘Kili Taifa Cup’ has already started its quarterfinals at the Sheikh Amri Abeid Stadium in Arusha. The final involves eight teams, seven of which are regional teams and one, is U-20 national team.

Monday 23rd witnessed Mbeya (Mapinduzi Stars) play against Ruvuma in which Mbeya emerged winners having thrashed their opponents 3-2. It took Mapinduzi Stars just a couple of minutes after kick-off to declare their first goal through Gaudience Mwaikimba who was also the first player to be booked with a yellow card.

Juma Mponda added another goal at 34th minute. At the breather the score was 2-0 in favour of agile Mapinduzi stars

Six minutes inside the second half , Habib Bilal of Ruvuma converted a pass into a classic goal. But almost momentarily Mwaikimba shook Ruvuma’s net for the third time. Minutes before the last whistle Bilal’s penalty ball gave Ruvuma the second goal.

Juma Mponda of Mbeya emerged the Man of the match, and sponsors Kilimanjaro Lager awarded him 100,000 Tsh.
