Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis has denied suggestions that Tottenham Hotspur have made contact with them for the transfer of striker Ezequiel Lavezzi.
Earlier this week the Argentina international striker’s agent Alejandro Mazzoni said that clubs in the Premier League are interested in him and remained coy on any bid from Spurs, telling Radio CRC: “Is there an offer from Tottenham? I cannot exclude or confirm this. I know they have watched him, but I cannot say anything with certainty.”
Napoli chief De Laurentiis, though, has now confirmed that Spurs have not spoken to him regarding the 26-year-old’s services.
“Lavezzi? I have never spoken to Tottenham,” De Laurentiis told Radio Marte.
Lavezzi has established himself as one of the key players for Napoli since joining them in 2007. He scored six goals and provided 14 assists in 31 Serie A appearances in 2010-11, helping Walter Mazzarri’s side to automatic qualification for next season’s Champions League.
