The Ministry of Labour, COTU and Federation of Kenya Employers have set up a committee of experts to look into the proposal the workers union proposal to increase the general wages by 10 percent and minimum wages by 60 percent.
The committee is expected to come up with a report on its recommendations in two weeks. COTU Secretary General Francis Atwoli says the report will prove how the ordinary worker has been economically hit by the rise in prices of basic commodities, and present the finding to the government.
