Two MPs from Kitui have called for unity to establish strategic development opportunities in the region. Charity Ngilu (Kitui Central) and Kiema Kilonzo (Mutito) held a meeting attended by 2,000 delegates from the region. The delegates resolved to put in place a committee which would come up with proposals that will help uplift the living standards of Kitui residents.
South Eastern University College (SEUCO) Principal, Professor Geoffrey Muluvi was endorsed to head the team. “Poverty, illiteracy and famine are some of the major set backs that we the Kitui people face. It is high time now we come together and chart the way forward of developing our region in order to have sustainable livelihood,” said Kiema.
Leaders were urged to put their political differences aside and get involved with development issues that will enable residents enjoy quality life.
