Nyanza North football clubs and officials are backing Kenya Football Federation (KFF) chairman Sam Nyamweya for the top seat when the national football elections are held.

Officials, coaches and referees from the area said they will stand by Nyamweya who has worked tirelessly to ensure the voices of the small clubs are heard. The officials said Nyamweya’s fight to ensure football returns to the stakeholders is what has endeared them to him. “We can’t have a private company running football. Nyamweya has shown he wants football to go back to its rightful owners,” said Siaya sub-branch chairman Joseph Abiola. “Nyamweya has given his all to football and even when Fifa refused to recognise him, he still worked hard and played a big role in helping the sport to develop. That is why we will support him,” added Abiola. The officials were speaking at the Bondo Township Primary School as Nyamweya toured clubs in Nyanza Province. Other Nyanza officials present were-Nyanza North chairman Peter Ochiel, secretary Tobias Obado, Siaya sub branch official Steve Otieno, and Washington Orao from Kisumu among others.
