Celtic‘s Emilio Izaguirre says he is “flattered” by the interest shown in him by Liverpool.

The left-back is said to be the target of a host of top Premier League clubs after producing eye-catching performances north of the border which earned him SPL Player of the Year, Players’ Player of the Year and Football Writers’ Footballer of the Year titles.

Arsenal, Aston Villa and Manchester United have all been linked with the 25-year-old’s signature, with Liverpool also reported to be interested.

He told La Tribuna: “It is flattering for any player of course, when somebody like Liverpool shows an interest in your services.

“I still do now know anything, I leave this in the hands of my agent and club officials.”

Celtic boss Neil Lennon picked up his first managerial silverware in Saturday’s 3-0 Scottish Cup final victory over Motherwell and is understood to be in no hurry to sell the Honduran, who admitted his focus is now on playing for his country ahead of the Gold Cup.

“I am happy to be back home, it is always good to be back and thank God it comes after a great season,” added the defender, who joined the club from C.D Motagua last summer.

“Now my aim is the national team and I am happy to be selected, I will have a few days off and then I will be ready for Honduras.”
