The Universal Boxing Organisation (UBO) champion, Francis Cheka, has pledged to “destroy” Mada Maugo when they fight in Morogoro. The middleweight sensation fighter will put his UBO title on the line against Maugo who is also relishing top form come September 6.

“It’s not a tough fight, it’s an easy one for me. I want to tell my fans that I will destroy him. I’m determined to keep my winning streak going before shifting weight category.”I just can’t wait for that first bell to ring so that I teach him a boxing lesson,” bragged the Morogoro-based boxer. “I beat him on points in January, but given my preparations, he won’t survive an embarrassing knockout this time around,” he said.

Before trading punches with Maugo, the UBO belt holder will test his strength against a Kenyan challenger, Daniel Wanyonyi, on June 25 at Jamhuri Stadium.Cheka describes the Kenyan as a tough challenger who is giving him sleepless nights.

“Wanyonyi is giving a headache because I don’t know his fighting tactics. His record also makes me believe that he is tougher than Maugo. “I have fought Maugo severally and I won all fights, so he is not the kind of boxers who can trouble me.”

The Morogoro boxer is under the tutelage of Abdalah Salehe ‘Komando’ who also echoed Cheka’s words. Not to be outdone, Maugo said he was looking forward to ripping the title off Cheka and get back home.

“I’ve been undergoing an arduous training for a couple of months, so I’m already in decent shape. “I’ve always tried to push the boundaries and ensure I’m in better condition and it’ll be no different with this fight.
