Cape Coast , May 25, GNA – The coordinator of the Institute of Local Government Studies on Tuesday, urged Assembly Members to take keen interest in the development of their areas and strategize to achieve set goals to sustain the interest of the public in local governance.

They are also to act professionally and ensure that resources put in their care were well managed to help in the development of their areas.

Mr. Simone Bokor said this at the close of a two-day orientation workshop for the newly elected Assembly Members of the Cape Coast Metropolitan Assembly in Cape Coast .

He urged them to also take special interest in the businesses of the community because collecting of taxes would be made easier if the community realizes that the assembly has its interest at heart.

The Central Regional Minister, Mrs. Ama Benyiwa Doe, appealed to members to collaborate well with stakeholders especially chiefs to help implement bye-laws to ensure the effective and efficient performance of the Assembly.

She appealed to them to educate the people in their communities on the need to pay taxes to ensure a boost in the assembly’s internally generated funds.
