Sony Canada phone unit is hacked

Japanese electronics giant Sony has reported an online security breach at the website of its Canadian mobile phone joint venture.

Spokeswoman Ayano Iguchi told the BBC that names, emails and passwords of 2,000 customers have been stolen from the Sony Ericsson website.

Last month, account information of more than 100m customers was compromised in cyber attacks on Sony’s networks.

Sony said services at the website have been temporarily suspended.
