Michael Essien: Home Again For Peace….. I Never Boycotted Black Stars

Michael Essien and Event organizers have confirmed a powerful African Union Delegation will arrive in Accra, Ghana for the peace game on Wednesday, 25th May.

The African Union appointed Michael Essien Peace Ambassador last year to help create awareness about Peace in Africa.

Michael has since last year been doing interviews and raising awareness about Peace through his club Chelsea.

However the big one has always been putting together ESSIEN’S PEACE MATCH and the AU are supporting Michael by sending a powerful delegation to Accra.

According to Essien, the biggest aspect was getting his colleague international football stars to grace the occasion due to various reasons.

He confirmed to Peace Fm that players including Paolo Maldini, George Weah, Kalusha Bwalya, Abedi Pele, Stephen Appiah, Jermaine Defoe and Chelsea teammates; Ashley Cole, Didier Drogba, Florent Malouda, Salomon Kalou and many more have all confirmed they will be coming to Ghana for the game at the Ohene Djan Sports Stadium in Accra.

Michael Essien, an AU Peace Ambassador, who is organizing the AU PEACE MATCH event told Peace Fm’s Kwami Sefa-Kayi, host of the “kokrokoo” programme in an interview that the main idea and aim of the match was to create awareness and promote peace in the Africa region.

Funds raised from the game will be given to the African Union for their Peace Projects.

The players are expected to arrive on 24 May and press conferences will be held before and after the game
