Roberto Mancini has dedicated Manchester City‘s success this season to the club’s supporters.

The Eastlands outfit had not won any silverware in 35 years until their FA Cup final win over Stoke, whilst achieving direct qualification into the group stages of next season’s Champions League by finishing third in the Premier League.

Mancini told supporters during City’s FA Cup parade on Monday: “All the credit for what we have achieved this season has to go to the players who worked so hard for us to win what we did.

“But I also want to give credit to the Royal Family of Abu Dhabi, Sheikh Mansour and our chairman, Khaldoon al Mubarak. But what this team has done is dedicated to our fans, who have suffered for so long but can now start to dream about a better future.”

Vincent Kompany predicted that the success so far is only a taste of things to come in the future, saying: “It’s been a fantastic historic day. This club has worked for this for so long and we’re just looking forward to doing more of it.”

The 25-year-old Belgian also won the Player of the Year award at the Eastlands club, and thanked his team-mates for the part they played in making it possible.

“It’s an unbelievable sign of recognition and I’m so happy about it, but tonight is about individual awards,” said Kompany.

“It’s about recognising the team and without the team none of this would have happened. I’m delighted but I know who I owe it to.

“You expect your fellow players to know the most about it, they see you every day so it was great to get this, but it could have been any of us which is a sign of how strong we’ve been as a team. I thank my team-mates, but the thing that stood out for me was us winning the FA Cup.”
