So the curtain has come down on another Premier League season and it’s one that’s been more memorable than most.

We’ve seen a last day scramble for survival involving an unprecedented five clubs; there’s been shock managerial sackings; dramatic takeovers; Manchester United winning a record-breaking title; Arsenal falling short again; and a staggering 1,063 goals notched – breaking an 11-year record – over the course of the campaign.

Then there’s been stars like Javier Hernandez, Nani, Jack Wilshere, Samir Nasri, Luka Modric, Rafael van der Vaart, Luis Suarez, Charlie Adam et al waving their magic wands and leaving us all dazzled.

And we’ve also seen some astonishingly poor performers, so bad on occasion that they’d not stand out for a pub team, and here we toast the worst of the bunch.

Excluded from the XI are those players that are just purely rubbish, the ones who nobody expects anything from, as by definition they could not ‘flop’ – so no James Perch, arguably the league’s worst player. But it’s still a rotten bunch that a group of kids could batter in a game of jumpers for goalposts.

In case you’re wondering, Steve Bruce would manage this bunch of disappointments seeing as he expertly navigated a team that went four months without a win in the top flight, taking them perilously close to the drop zone. Just missing the cut – don’t celebrate lads, you’ve still been awful – were: Pablo Barrera, Eidur Gudjohnsen, Kolo Toure, Bebe and Ian Evatt.
