Ferguson’s achievements include winning 12 Premier League titles
The League Managers Association has named Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson its manager of the year.
The award is based on a poll of bosses from England’s four professional divisions, with the United boss also scooping an LMA Special Merit Award.
The merit award was for Ferguson having passed 2,000 matches as manager.
“It has been a fantastic season for us in the most difficult league in the world,” said Ferguson as he reflected on United’s 12th Premier League title.
Speaking via video link from Old Trafford to the LMA awards dinner in London, Ferguson also had words of sympathy for Carlo Ancelotti, who was sacked as Chelsea boss on Sunday.
“Carlo you are a fantastic man and you have showed great courage in coming to the dinner, well done,” said Ferguson.
Last season, Roy Hodgson – then Fulham manager – won the LMA manager of the year award.
