Kampala — President Museveni has reshuffled top army officers in changes announced on Wednesday night by the Chief of Defence Forces, Gen Aronda Nyakairima.
Military sources told Daily Monitor that the Chief of Staff Land Forces, Brig Charles Angina, has been moved to chair the Military Court Martial. He has been replaced by Brig Silver Kayemba, who has been the chief of operations and training.
Brig. Angina will replace Brig Bernard Rwehururu whose term ended early this year. The President last reshuffled heads of chieftainships five years ago and sources say more changes are expected.
The army spokesperson, Lt Col Felix Kulayigye, confirmed the changes and described the reshuffle as “tour of duty”.
He said Brig Angina has been moved to the court martial because of his “born-again” background and the Christian courses he has attended. He dismissed the notion that Brig Angina had taken up a “less influential position”.
