A leading Boca Juniors director has revealed the club’s desire to sign Manchester City striker Carlos Tevez.

The forward is a fan favourite at the Argentine club after beginning his career there, where he lifted the national championship, Copa Libertadores and the Intercontinental Cup during his three years as a first-team player.

With the striker looking almost certain to leave Manchester City during the European summer transfer window the Argentine outfit are keen to bring him back to his native country, and vice-president Juan Carlos Crespi confirmed that he is a target.

“I want Tevez to come and play in Boca once more. There is a good chance that it could happen,” the director told Radio America on Monday.

The player himself has stated that nobody from Boca has called him to enquire about a transfer, and for now a move to Italy seems the most likely destination for the 27-year-old.
