Strategic Partnership Boosts Bilateral Cooperation

Luanda — The establishment of strategic partnership between China and Angola, adopted in 2010, “introduces a driving force” in the bilateral cooperation between the two countries.

This was said to Angop on Sunday in Luanda by the Speaker of the Standing Committee of China’s National People’s Assembly of China, Wu Bangguo.

Wu Bangguo is paying a two-day official visit to Angola, aimed at strengthening of bilateral cooperation.

According to Wu Bungguo, with the establishment of this partnership, “China is confident about the future of the Chinese and Angolan ties.

Meanwhile, China’s top legislator said that the relations between both states have been developing rapidly, being characterised by the regular contacts of senior officials of the government of China and Angola and vice-versa.

He said that the continued strengthening of mutual trust will bring more positve co-operation, as they will bring benefits to both countries and two peoples.

Monday, the last visiting day, the Chinese MP is expected to be received in audience by the Angolan head of State, José Eduardo dos Santos, the speaker of the Angolan parliament and António Paulo Kassoma, as well as visit the Technological Training Centre in Luanda.

Angola and China established diplomatic ties in 1983 and since then the bilateral cooperation has been increasing, particularly after the end of the armed conflict in the country.

However, Angola has become China’s biggest trade partner in Africa, overcoming South Africa.
