Kenya: Sirma Demands Coach Kirongo’s Reinstatement

KENYA Volleyball Federation (KVF) national second vice chairman Kipkemei Sirma wants the suspension of the national men’s volleyball team coach Sammy Kirongo rescinded. Kirongo was suspended early this month following allegations leveled against him by Blue Triangle team. Kirongo had been appointed in March to replace Moses Epoloto as national team coach and was expected to lead the team to the last month’s All Africa Games qualifiers in Kigali. Sirma said the decision to suspend Kirongo was not the resolution of KVF national executive committee, claiming the action was a personal decision.

“There is no day the national executive committees has met to discuss the suspension of Kirongo. In fact majority of KVF officials are still amazed by the press statement on his suspension,” Sirma said. Sirma said Kirongo should continue in his capacity as the national as reasons to suspend him were flimsy. “If he had issues with the Blue Triangle, then it could have been better to solve them at the level without mixing it with his role at national level,” he added.
