Lagos — Nigeria National U-23 team will file out against Gombe United today in Gombe as part of activities to mark the official opening of the new 12,000 capacity Pantami Stadium, Gombe.
Gombe United, a Nigeria Premier League (NPL) club has been playing their home games at the Abubaker Umar Stadium, Gombe.
Coach of Nigeria’s U-23, Austin Eguavoen, is expected to use the game to fine-tune preparations for the double header in the shape of upcoming All Africa Games and Olympic football qualifiers against Ghana and Tanzania.
“We see the game as a tune-up match for the Dream Team, like you already know, the team has five games between this month and next month.
“So the Federation sees the friendly as an opportunity for Coach Austin Eguavoen to test some more legs ahead of the All Africa Games and Olympic qualifier against Ghana and Tanzania,” declared NFF assistant general secretary on competition, Dr Sanusi Mohammed.
Subsequently, Coach Austin Eguavoen has released a list of twenty five players for the friendly.
