Carlos Tevez has been told to postpone his flight back to Argentina by Manchester City officials so he can join in the club’s victory parade to celebrate winning the FA Cup on Monday, according to the Daily Mail.

The City captain had originally booked a flight home on Monday as he is eager to spend some time with his daughters over the summer, but club officials have reminded the Argentine of his contractual obligations and warned he faces a hefty fine should he leave the country prematurely.

Tevez is not the only member of the squad to be ordered to change his plans in order to join in with the celebrations to commemorate City’s first major trophy in 35 years – defender Vincent Kompany is also missing a training camp for the Belgian national team in order to be present.

It is an episode which may serve to further strain an already tense relationship between City and their talismanic captain.

In December, Tevez handed in a written transfer request, citing irreconcilable differences with certain members of the club, and despite eventually being persuaded to stay at Eastlands, the Argentine striker has frequently complained of missing his family and his dislike for life in Manchester.

Roberto Mancini claimed after the FA Cup final that Tevez had told him he was happy to remain at City, but speculation has continued to surround the player’s future, with Real Madrid and Inter both rumoured to be interested in signing him.
