Wanderers can now start to believe that they can win silverware again after attracting the signature of classy veteran batsman Nehal Bibodi.
Bibodi, 40, will make his debut for Wanderers when they host Jinja-based Rounders in the Division I National Cricket League at Kyambogo oval today.
Despite assembling arguably the most talented and youthful squad for a long time, Sam Walusimbi’s troops have not won any accolade in as many years and with decorated Bibodi in their dressing room there is every reason for them to start dusting their trophy cabin.
In the last 18 years, Bibodi has won an estimated 15 league titles with Kampala Institute of Cricket Clubs (KICC), Tornado, Premier and Destroyers.
“I know how to win titles and hopefully it will rub onto the youngsters. I also had to pick between Patidar Samaj and Wanderers but I opted for the latter,” said Bibodi, who also still reveling in an unlikely recall to the provisional national team that will feature in the Division I ICC Africa Twenty20 tournament scheduled for July.
At the unpredictable lakeside oval in Entebbe, youthful Charity Trust Fund will look to extend Tornado B’s losing streak.
