Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp sympathises with managers battling relegation

Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp has offered his sympathies to the likes of Birmingham City boss Alex McLeish and Blackpool‘s Ian Holloway, who are both managing clubs that could potentially face relegation on the last day of the season.

For his part, the Spurs boss has been involved in relegation battles before, having had to face the worst with Southampton while having had better luck with Portsmouth.

“I really feel for those managers involved in the fight. People like Ian Holloway at Blackpool and Alex McLeish at Birmingham,” Redknapp told The Mirror.

“Ian got the vote for Premier League manager of the season no matter what happens. He has done a remarkable job. I just feel for them.”

Now Redknapp has offered sympathy to the relegation battlers, while preparing his own side to take on one of them – Birmingham City on Sunday.

And the manager admits that a survival battle is far more difficult than a top table challenge.

“There is no comparison,” Redknapp said.

“None at all. The pressure for those guys this weekend will be immense.”
