Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp claims he must fend off interest from Liverpool and Arsenal if he wants to sign Scott Parker this summer.

The West Ham midfielder has enjoyed an outstanding year on a personal level – being voted the Football Writers’ Player of the Year and establishing himself in Fabio Capello’s plans – but relegation for the Hammers will see the England midfielder’s future in doubt this summer.

Redknapp is a known admirer of Parker having previously trying to sign him but expects to face stiff competition for his signature.

“Well, he’s a good player, a top player, Footballer of the Year this year,” Redknapp said, according to The Mirror.

“I’m sure people are going to be interested in Scott. I know a couple of other clubs are interested, big clubs, but we’ll wait and see.

“Which clubs? Arsenal, Liverpool. I think they’re big clubs in for him. That’s the rumours anyway, that’s what I hear, so it will be hard.”

Redknapp also admitted his interest in Lille talent Eden Hazard; another player that has been linked with a move to the Premier League and one the Spurs boss watched when he was present for the French Cup final against PSG.

“Yeah, I like him,” Redknapp added.

“I watched him this week. He is a good player, but it’s difficult because there are some good players in this country that I like.

“There’s a few lads over here I would like to go for if we can make some openings. we need to make openings first.”
