Gambega Launches New Product

Gambega Limited, a long-serving beverage Company in The Gambia last Wednesday launched a new product called ‘Fanta Splash Bottles’. The launching of the product coincided with the 125-year celebration of the Coca-Cola Company.

The launching of the product and the Coco-Cola company’s 125-year celebration were held at the premises of Gambega in Kanifing. The new products are in three different flavours, namely Fanta Blackcurrant, Fanta Cocktail and Fanta Strawberry. According to official sources, the investment on the new facility on their labeled machine is worth over 200,000 Euros.

Speaking at the occasion, Felix Gomis, the country manager of Gambega expressed delight in witnessing yet another celebration and launching of the company’s new product. The celebration, he said, is aimed at refreshing the minds of their customers and share happiness with them. Gomis told the gathering that since the invention of the Coca-Cola Company in May 8th 1886, it has been able to impact the world and improve the lives and wellbeing of billions of its customers through innovative cultural events and exclusive collaboration with all its customers around the world. “We very well recognise the fact that we would not have reached this milestone without those who love our brand, because everyone who had enjoyed Coca-Cola in the past 125 years has played a major part in helping us to refresh the world. We want to celebrate by thanking the people of The Gambia who have made the brand what it is today in this country,” he stated.

According to him, Gambega will always hold onto its commitment in partnering with the Coca-Cola Company and their continuous support to the communities in which they do business. He further told the gathering that Gambega Limited as a company is very aware of its corporate social responsibilities by assisting Gambian communities. Gomis revealed that they have been actively involved in complementing the efforts of The Gambia government over the past years by supporting development sectors including the environment, education, youth and sports and health amongst others.

He further revealed that last year, the company refurbished the Accident and Emergency Ward of the RVTH with two 40-foot containers of medical items which amounts to US$200.000. Through the leadership of the Coca-Cola Company and the Equatorial Coca-Cola Bottling Company, he said, they have also set a strong commitment in protecting Gambia’s environment and delivering quality product to their customers, with a focus to provide their staff with quality standards management and supportive business tools.

He further explained that in The Gambia the company’s contribution to national development is demonstrated by their certification to ISO 9001, version 2008 by DQS from Frankfurt in Germany last year in the establishment of their Waste Water Treatment Plant (WWTP) at a tune of over US$2 million . Gomis said that the project was the first of its kind in The Gambia and treats and recycles waste water generated from the Factory to make it useful for cleaning (industrial or domestic) gardening, and fish farming construction amongst others.

Gomis then thanked President Jammeh for his immense support in promoting a business-friendly and enabling environment for the private sector, while reiterating his company’s commitment to collaborate with the government. Also present at the occasion were Bafuru Camara-Ceesay who represented the permanent secretary Ministry of Trade, Regional Integration and Employment; Yusupha Sanyang deputy mayor of Kanifing Municipal Council; and Jose Gabriel Martin Vidal, the Regional Finance and Service manager of the Equatorial Coca-Cola Bottling Company for Algeria and West Africa. They all commended the company for its valuable contribution towards the development of the country.
