Chelsea did well to sum up their season in their penultimate game. A 2-2 draw against Newcastle could be one disappointing result too far for Carlo Ancelotti, while Arsenal similarly gave their home fans something bitter to mull over this summer as their last game at the Emirates saw them defeated 2-1 by Aston Villa.

West Brom beat Everton to continue their strong run under Roy Hodgson, while Tottenham lead by a nose in the fifth-place race after defeating Liverpool at Anfield.

Roberto Mancini’s FA Cup winners proved their Wembley triumph was no fluke on Monday after they beat Stoke City again, this time by a three-goal cushion. The Italian’s charges now creep into third above Arsenal.
