Dar Es Salaam — Overseas-based Taifa Stars players might not return home on time for a residential camp with their colleagues for next month’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Central African Republic, it has been revealed.
The players and the teams they feature for in bracket are: Idrissa Rajab (Sofapaka, Kenya), Danny Mrwanda and Abdi Kassim (DT Lon, Vietnam), Nizar Khalfan (Vancouver Whitecaps, Canada), Henry Joseph (Kongsiver, Norway) and Athuman Machupa (Vasalund IF, Sweden).
The Tanzania Football Federation information officer, Boniface Wambura, admitted yesterday that they were still in the dark on the arrival of the six players.
Wambura said the professionals could join the national team in Bangui should they fail to return home on time.
Jan Poulsen’s team, smarting from a 1-0 home defeat to South Africa in an international friendly last weekend, will leave for the Central African city earl next month for a crucial Afcon qualifier against the hosts.
On the national team players from Simba, he said they will join Taifa Stars soon after their African Champions League match against Wayward Casablanca set for May 28 in Cairo, Egypt.
