Students Call for Dialogue in Conflict Resolution

Luanda — Students of the Higher Metropolitan Institute of Angola Thursday in Luanda spoke out of the need for African to settle their internal problems through dialogue as a way to avoid civil conflicts.

The academicians were speaking at the end of a session of screening of the movie “Hotel Ruanda”, under the Cycle of University Cinema jointly sponsored by the Angolan Institute of Cinema, Audiovisual and Multimedia and the Higher Metropolitan Institute of Angola.

To Manuel Bunga, African peoples must not accept external interferences as a solution to their problems but instead resort to open and fraternal debate as a way of overcoming the political and social crisis threatening their respective countries.

In her turn, Sandra Mateus underlined that Africans have the responsibility to decide on their own destiny, based on the principle of unity, solidarity and respect for differences within peoples from the same nation.

Emília Domingos Fortuna said she thinks the conflict hitting the continent result more from the economic, political and financial dependence that make many countries hostage of world powers.

The movies “Ilha dos Espíritos” and “O Herói” will be screened on May 19-20, under the ogoing cycle of university cinema.
