Ms. Asamoah claimed she slept with Rev. Isaac Owusu Bempah, General Oversear and founder of the Glorious Word Power Ministry International (GWPMI), and a junior pastor of the church, Felix Garoo.
According to officials of the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) of the Ghana Police Service who are handling the case, all of Marian’s phones have been off since the case was reported and efforts to trace her have yielded no results.
The run-away victim could not determine the actual paternity of the child. Rev. Bempah who has, since the allegation, been invited by DOVVSU to answer the charges levelled against him by Marian, has denied the allegation.
According to Paa Kwasi Abaidoo, counsel for Rev Bempah, Marian was only brought to his client for deliverance. “If the same Marian can today, in another breath, say that she was in a relationship with Rev Bempah, then this is not true because the same Marian, after reporting the case to the police, came back to tell them that she was orchestrated by some pastors who used to be in Rev Bempah’s ministry to put up such story.”
Mr Abaidoo hinted that the lady in question had mentioned some names but such names would be let out when the case was sent to court.
When he was asked whether the baby resembled Rev Bempah, he commented: “Let them come with an implicable proof that Rev Bempah is the father of the baby and we will dare them for proof. We don’t practise our law before the media.”
He alleged that a junior pastor who impregnated some three women simultaneously in the church, had been sacked and he was believed to have master-minded the allegation.
Mr. Abaidoo said that it was only a court of competent jurisdiction that could order a DNA test, noting that his client would avail himself to all tests to prove his innocence.
