Glen Johnson believes Lucas has been Liverpool‘s best player this season.

The Brazilian received criticism during his early days on Merseyside, and was widely considered as a flop.

However, the midfielder has become a fans’ favourite at Anfield this season and has cemented his place in the starting line-up.

When quizzed as to who he would pick as the Reds’ player of the season, Johnson told LFC Weekly: “I would say Lucas.

“There were rumours at the start of the season that Liverpool were going to sell him but the way he’s performed just shows you how quickly things can change in football.

“At the minute he’s probably one of the first names in the starting 11. He’s won the fans over now for sure, so fair play to him. I’m obviously very pleased for him and his family. He deserves the recognition.”

Liverpool are currently in sixth place in the Premier League, one point behind Tottenham with one game remaining.
