The West African rivalry is set to renew this summer when the Black Stars take on the Super Eagles. A London based West African derby will likely take place on August 9th between giants Ghana and Nigeria.
Both FAs are in talks but have yet to confirm the fixture, Goal.com has learnt. Ghana FA president Kwesi Nyantakyi was at a CAF meeting in Cairo, Egypt, when Goal.com reached him for confirmation and he hinted at the international friendly.
The match would be significant as the Super Eagles will look to gather their entire armoury to seek revenge for a string of defeats at the hands of the Black Stars. The last friendly between these West African powerhouses dates back to 2007, when the World Cup quarter-finalists won 4-1.
Local media reports that if the deal with the Nigerian FA falls through Turkey could be a replacement.
Meanwhile, the Black Stars have a date with South Korea in Seoul on June 7, four days after a 2012 Africa Nations Cup qualifier with Congo Brazzaville at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi.
The four-time Africa champions are currently ranked first in Africa based on the monthly Fifa rankings while Nigeria sit at the fourth spot.
