Nigeria: Disappointed Siasia Returns With Eagles

The absence of key officials of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) from the office yesterday stalled the proposed submission of Super Eagles team list for the international friendly between the Super Eagles and the national team of Argentina by Head Coach, Samson Siasia.

Whereas Siasia stormed the NFF secretariat with the list, as directed by the chairman of the technical committee Chris Green he could not submit it because none of the key officials of the technical department as well as members of the technical committee was on hand to receive the list.

Last week, the NFF technical committee chairman, Chris Green, had told journalist that Siasia should make available the Super Eagles team list for the clash against former world champions Argentina ready, latest on Monday (yesterday), but the no technical committee member was available when the coach arrived with the list.

The visibly disappointed Siaisa who declined to speak on the development only said he will return to the secretariat today (Tuesday) to submit the list since there was nobody on hand to accept it.

Champion Sports learnt from reliable sources that the same team list for the international friendly against Argentine slated for June 1 in Abuja will also be used to prosecute the make or break CAF African Cup of Nations qualifier against Ethiopia the same week.

Nigeria has been playing under the shadow of Argentina after the South American nation defeated the Super Eagles at the USA 1994 World Cup and the South Africa 2010 World Cup. Also the Dream team tutored by Samson Siasia had lost to their counterparts from Argentina at the Beijing 2008 Olympics as well as at the World Youth Championship (WYC) in the Netherlands in2005.
