Luanda — A message from Zimbabwean president, Robert Mugabe, to his Angolan counterpart, José Eduardo dos Santos, was delivered Friday in Luanda to local vice-president, Fernando da Piedade Dias dos Santos.
The letter was delivered by the Zimbabwean Defence minister, Emmerson Mnangagwa, during an audience granted to him by Fernando da Piedade Dias dos Santos, in the presence of the local Foreign minister, George Chicoty.
Speaking to the press at the end of the audience of about an hour, the Zimbabwean official said that in addition to delivering the letter, he informed the Angolan vice-president about the situation prevailing in his country.
He also highlighted the effort made by his Government to recover the political stability and the economy that reached 8,5 percent this year and is expected to grow 9,6 percent in coming times, with the agricultural and mining sector playing a relevant role.
The Zimbabwean official described the political situation in the country as stable, based on an environment produced by the accord reached between president Robert Mugabe and prime minister Morgan Tsvangirai, which enables them to work in harmony.
The Defence minister said as well Zimbabwe is working on drafting a new Constitution that will be submitted to a referendum to pave the way for general elections in an environment of harmony and date still to unknown.
On the other hand, Emmerson Mnangagwa expressed the wish of the Zimbabwean authorities to have the sanctions imposed by the western countries lifted.
