Bayern Munich ‘on track’ in chase for Manchester City’s Jerome Boateng & Schalke’s Manuel Neuer – report

Bayern Munich‘s incoming coach Jupp Heynckes is reportedly confident of securing deals for Schalke goalkeeper Manuel Neuer and Jerome Boateng of Manchester City.

According to Bild, Heynckes has confirmed that the Bavarian giants are close to finalising an agreement for Neuer, while negotiations for Boateng are also “on track”.

Rumours of a move for German No. 1 Neuer have intensified across the latter part of the season, and a deal looks ever closer to being reached.

Boateng, meanwhile, is thought to have agreed terms on a four-year contract with the Bavarian outfit, publication Kicker reports, but a transfer fee has still to be agreed with Manchester City.

The full-back has endured an injury-hit spell at Eastlands following his move from Hamburg for a fee of €12 million £10m in the summer of 2010, and has made just 16 appearances in total, with his last outing coming against Fulham at the end of February.

Bayern chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has confirmed the offer of a deal until 2015, while City chief executive Garry Cook has allegedly admitted that the club are willing to negotiate the sale of the player.

A third piece of transfer business that is on the verge of completion at the Allianz Arena is a swoop for Energie Cottbus frontman Nils Petersen, who is expected to join the record Bundesliga champions imminently.
