Luq — At least two people have been killed and dozens more injured after fierce battle on Friday night erupted between Somali interim government troops and Al shabaab fighters in Luq district in Gedo region in southern Somalia.

Sources confirmed Shabelle that fighting took place in the village of Banmudalo about 4 kilometers east of Luq district.

Local said that battle set off after more fighters loyal to Al shabaab mugged government forces in the area.

No comments were immediately available from both opposing political antagonists so far.
