John Terry insists that he would like to finish his career at Chelsea, and is hoping for a contract extension at the west London club.

The 30-year-old’s current contract stretches until 2013, but the skipper is keen on prolonging his stay even further to end his career at the same club where it all began.

There had previously been some links with the skipper making a move away to Real Madrid, where former boss Jose Mourinho currently plies his trade.

But Terry remains adamant that he does not intend to play for any other club, as he told reporters: “I’m hoping to get an extension on my contract of at least another year – I really am.

“I will try to stay here as long as I can. I love this football club and I never want to leave.

“I’m like the fans in that I take it home with me – and whenever we lose I take it out on the people closest to me.

“I’m very fortunate to be captain of such a fantastic club.”
