High on their 2-0 home win over Lobi Stars on Wednesday, Plateau United are now looking on getting their pound of flesh against league leaders Dolphin at the weekend.
In November, Dolphin pipped Plateau United right in front of their home fans at the Rwang Pam Stadium in Jos on the opening day of the season.
And while Dolphin have since surged to the summit of the log, Plateau have struggled at the wrong end of the table. They are now third from bottom with 16 points, 27 points behind Dolphin.
Former Eagles assistant coach, Bitrus Bewarang, has replaced Nduka Ndubuisi as coach as Plateau aim to avoid making an instant return to the lower league.
The experienced coach told MTNFootball.com he wants to avenge that opening day loss against the Port Harcourt outfit.
“The victory over Lobi Stars is a morale booster to the team coupled with our winning the Federation Cup, the boys are fired up to face Dolphin and are determined to avenge the home loss by paying them back in their own coin,” stated Bewarang, who still holds down his post as the club’s general manager.
Plateau United have secured two wins under former star Bewarang. They lifted the Plateau State Federations Cup at the expense of JUTH FC, before the recorded the maximum points against visiting Lobi Stars of Makurdi on Wednesday.
Former skipper Samuel Kuchili has headed back to the Jos club and promised a shock awaits the league leaders at the Liberation Stadium in Port Harcourt.
“The Garden City has always been a veritable place for me and I am sure that we will surprise Dolphin in their backyard. We are determined not to come back empty handed from this encounter,” said Kuchili.
“My love for the club was responsible for my coming back to see that Plateau United are not relegated at the end of the season.”
Kuchili is one of almost a dozen mid-season signings by Plateau as they attempt to starve off the dreaded drop.
